ITT Water to become Xylem

Upon completion of ITT’s on-going transformation into three separate entities, Xylem will emerge as the name of the new water company. The standalone, publicly traded company will consist of most of the current corporation’s water and wastewater treatment businesses organized into ‘water infrastructure’ and ‘applied water’ business segments.

‘Xylem’ is one of the two types of transport tissue in vascular plants, which ITT says, “signifies the company’s unique position in the marketplace as a leading equipment and service provider of a broad product line that addresses the full cycle of water.”

Former ITT companies that will become part of Xylem include Bell & Gossett, Flygt, Godwin, Leopold, PCI Membranes, Nova Analytics, Sanitaire, Wedeco and W.E.T. Goulds will be split into Goulds Water, which is to become part of Xylem, while Goulds Heavy Industrial will remain a part of the remaining ITT Corporation.

C’treat, the Woodlands (Houston), Texas-based manufacturer of offshore SWRO units, will also remain part of the ITT Corporation.

Meanwhile, Colin Sabol has been named to lead strategy and business development at the new water company. Sabol has been vice president of marketing and business development at ITT since leaving GE Water to join the firm in 2006.
